Atkins is happy to let others set the pace and hangs back. Rebol leads halfway with Brandt in second and Atkins a more distant third, nearly three seconds back. Atkins passes Brandt rounding the third turn as her tempo quickens. The gap to Rebol, with 300 to go is not quite as large as the week before, still it takes until about 40 meters to go before blowing by Rebol and completing a section double only once before accomplished by a freshman. Dumore crashes through the final hurdle but still has enough momentum to pass the tiring Williams and avoid being caught by Emmons' dive across the finish line.
