Hannah Davis/Shasta & Shalynn Fullerton/Enterprise scratch, Karly Gutermuth is
a no-show for the meet. Replaced by Dully/PV, Ford/Sutter & Koehnen/Hamilton
City who runs her third distance race on the day. Storms, Ulloa match strides
for a little over three laps at which point the Enterprise enigma drops out (so
quickly that track side fans couldn't find her) to take much of the drama out of the
race. Storms subsequently cruises to an easy victory, with Lewis, despite losing some
ground late, is unchallenged for second. All the race intrigue was with who would take third.
For six laps it was Swangler followed by Renfroe then Ayars. The latter two then came to
life to catch the Paradise junior after her initial optomistic start. The penultimate lap
saw Ayars pass then lose the lead to Swangler with profussion of something coming out of the
Panther's mouth (it turned out to be portion of a prerace chocolate bar). Swangler's final
surge attempt fails as Renfroe, Ayars whip by her down the backstretch. Despite doubling,
Renfroe's superior 1600m speed is the difference in opening up a little daylight upon
reaching the line. The Chico sophomore, with what looked like dried blood on her legs,
uniform and face promptly collapses in the infield about 10ft after reseting her 3200m PR
for the third time in as many meets.

Qaday Robinson/Hamilton City & Luis Dominguez/willows scratch, replaced by Angel
Santana/Gridley & Chris Rosero/Foothill. Ibrahim has the best start with Rosero &
Cunningham just a touch behind. Prince's reaction to the gun is the slowest of the field.
Mid race Rosero has the lead with a charging Prince moving into second. A very
strong close gives the Sutter senior the section title by a comfortable margin.

rather pedestrian opening lap. The pace picks up down the backstretch with only
Manzo, Hering & Lervold making any attempt to stay close. A surge by Manzo takes
him by Baldwin going in the final turn. Baldwin regroups, passes Manzo back and

Thurman Knowles/foothill, Chris Meeder/West Valley & Michael Martin/Etna scratch,
replaced by Ward/Yreka & Grafe/Shasta (who wasn't even an alternate). Jochim
leads the field through a slow opening lap and only relinquishes the lead when
someone else (Valdivia) is willing to take over. His time at the front is fleeting as
Graber surges into the lead down the backstretch. the Chico senior has a 30-40m gap
on the field with a lap to go as the race favorites (Morzenti, Harper) finally separate
themselves from the rest of the field. Graber's lead is down to 20m with a half lap
to go & gone coming off the final turn as Morzenti proves he has a gear no one in the
section has.

Zayd Morton, Enterprise & Ryan Keables/PV scratch, replaced by Dodgen/Big Valley
& Harris/Foothill. A spirited competition through 6-03 eliminates less than half
the field. Moving the bar up another two inches whittles the field down to one,
top ranked Chris Jaeger of Hamilton City. The Braves senior would reclaim the section
he previously won as a sophomore.

No scratches although section's best vaulter West Valley's Chava Espitia (14'6SB) blew
out his knee two weeks prior and did not complete. The opening height elimates three
competitors, the second height eliminates two more. 13'0 whittles the field to three,
leaving the two vaulters tied for the section's second best and Colton Boontjer who
has already upped his PR twice to get to this point in the competition. In the most
improbable of circumtances, the Foothill junior, using more gutty determination than
good technique, would go on to PR 2 more times and claim the section title.
