Storms, Ulloa match strides for a little over three laps at which point the Enterprise enigma drops out (so quickly that track side fans couldn't find her) to take much of the drama out of the race. Storms subsequently cruises to an easy victory, with Lewis, despite losing some ground late, is unchallenged for second. All the race intrigue was with who would take third. For six laps it was Swangler followed by Renfroe then Ayars. The latter two then came to life to catch the Paradise junior after her initial optomistic start. The penultimate lap saw Ayars pass then lose the lead to Swangler with profussion of something coming out of the Panther's mouth (it turned out to be portion of a prerace chocolate bar). Swangler's final surge attempt fails as Renfroe, Ayars whip by her down the backstretch. Despite doubling, Renfroe's superior 1600m speed is the difference in opening up a little daylight upon reaching the line. The Chico sophomore, with what looked like dried blood on her legs, uniform and face promptly collapses in the infield about 10ft after reseting her 3200m PR for the third time in as many meets.
