she had in ten previous meets. This opens the door for third seeded Addie Galantine as she edges Shasta's
Allaya Magee on the basis of fewer misses. Both had only cleared 10 feet in one previous meet.

Britty Bundy/Chico and Serena Tate/U Prep scratch to concentrate on other events, replaced by
Rize Oliveira/Foothill and Liberty Bronson/Chico. Etna's Harli Gomes, D4 & SCL champion, paces the field through
a brisk opening lap of 75. Gomes, although relinquishing the lead to Gaddy, remains in contention for another lap. the
second lap sees the other main contenders, Harper, Sims and Murillo, join Gaddy at the front. Gaddy
attempt to stretch the lead in lap three drops Bronson, Gomes and Heacock from contention. Sims challenges Gaddy for
the lead coming down the home stretch for the penultimate time and holds a half stride lead until Harper surges by
everyone about 250m to go. She opens up a 10-15m gap, so now the race is for second. Simms is unable to hold off Gaddy
and is also caught by a late surge from Murillo. Big PRs for Harper, Gaddy, Sims and probably Murillo as her 5:12 ran in a
dual meet last year seems bogus.

Johnson and Rockholt able to stay relatively close. Although the pace slows considerably by lap three, Ramirez
continues to lead. Torres surges by the fading Bear down the backstretch and cruises to the win. While
never really contending for the lead, Johnson is the best of the rest as he is the only other runner to pass
the fading Rameriz.

Bigg's Megan Shelton scratches, replaced by Singler. Bishop more measured approach to the
race gives her plenty in reserve coming off the final turn, slightly behind the Eagle duo of
Jones, Alvarez respectively as she powers by both coming down the home stretch. Still all three
run personal bests as does alternate Singler (all but Jones by over a second).

Wheatland's CJ Duncan scratches, allowing the section leader Gordon to run the race (albeit in lane 7).
Danner-Bocks strong opening 200m gives him the lead. Gordon more comfortable opening leaves him with plenty to make
up in the second half of the race. He does indeed run out of real estate, missing a title defense by less than half
stride.

WV's Bailey Jones, Hamilton City's Alicia Murillo, Chico's Sophie Sims scratch to consentrate on other races, replaced
by Ruiz, Goodrich and Durbin. Harper leads the field through a brisk opening lap with Gaddy, Clements staying the
closest. Harper expands her lead going down the back stretch while Clements goes round Gaddy. Harper's
lead shrinks dramatically rounding the final turn as Clements, with most of her workouts done in a swimming pool, surges
toward the section leader. However she gets no closer as Harper has plenty left in reserve. Although never
in contention, a nice close allows Durbin to pass Docendorf, Berkowitz and Gomes in the race's closing meters.

Bigg's Megan Shelton scratches, replaced by Becker. Two surprises, one is that Harper didn't scratch
after winning the 800m & 1600m and the second was that she had the lead coming off the turn. She couldn't
hold off Bishop and Jones but she made it difficult as she ran a personal best requiring the others to do the same.

No scratches. Some background...Osborne, 18:40 XC 5K runner, injured in the off season and slow to regain her form.
Bundy, runnerup a year ago losing a scintillating race to Hana Hall, has run inconsistently since with confidence issues.
Tate aggressive (& probably overly aggressive) start gives her a comfortable lead early with Ashby, Gaido, Murillo & Bundy
staying the closest. The gap closes in the slower second lap and only gets tighter in lap 3. Ashby, closely followed by Murillo
take over in lap 4 but Tate takes the lead back by the end of the lap. A distant chase pack has Gaido leading Ruiz & Osborne.
Murillo opens up 5m lead in lap 5 with only Bundy attempting to bridge the gap while behind Osborne makes a big move to catch the
race leaders. Lap 6 Bundy closes in on Murillo while Osborne approaches a fading Tate. Murillo maintains a small lead over
Bundy in lap 7 but the Chico senior challenges her for the lead rounding the turn. Murillo unleashes a huge kick to retake the
lead going down the back stretch. Bundy jogs in the closing meters and is almost caught by Ashby.

No scratches. An evenly paced performance (4:47-4:48) by the section leader, Charlie Giannini to get comfortable win in
taking his second section 3200m title. Behind Giannini, his younger brother Mario along with Torres, the 1600m winner, Noah
Bland, Kaleb Traficante and for a time, Jaxon Leduc & Bailey Rockholt composed the chase pack. They were running a little
under 5 minute pace until about 800m to go when Mario left Bland and went off on his own. A closing 67 gave the Chico
freshman a six plus second PR and a runnerup finish. Torres outkicked Bland & Traficante for third, still it was the first
time under ten minutes for the fourth & fifth place finishers. The race also ended the high school career of Justin Matties, who
after showing much promise after his junior season, struggled with injuries in both cross country and track. He, unable to stay
with the chase pack, dropped out a little over a mile into the race.

A tight three way race, even with West Valley's loss of Bianca Jones who came away from premeet run through with a sore hamstring.
Chico led after one after Mary Blaugh's fine opening leg. Dudley grabbed the lead after two, although Chico and WV were within a stride.
Camara took the lead back for Chico in three. Bailey Jones explodes after the handoff, gapping Bishop and Clements. She maintains this 2-3m
gap through the final turn before Bishop begins eating into the lead (while Clements slowly fades). Bishop's patience is rewarded as she
passes Jones in the race's closing meters. Chico gets DQ'ed for running out of their lane somewhere between the start and end of the third turn.
