A distant chase pack has Gaido leading Ruiz & Osborne. Murillo opens up 5m lead in lap 5 with only Bundy attempting to bridge the gap while behind Osborne makes a big move to catch the race leaders. Lap 6 Bundy closes in on Murillo while Osborne approaches a fading Tate. Murillo maintains a small lead over Bundy in lap 7 but the Chico senior challenges her for the lead rounding the turn. Chico led after one after Mary Blaugh's fine opening leg. Dudley grabbed the lead after two, although Chico and WV were within a stride. Camara took the lead back for Chico in three. Bailey Jones explodes after the handoff, gapping Bishop and Clements. She maintains this 2-3m gap through the final turn before Bishop begins eating into the lead (while Clements slowly fades).
