Dawn Kristeen Vance-Crumm died December 23, 2015 at her home in Chico, California.
She was born October 19, 1964 in Roseville, California to Robert and Lee Vance. She grew up in
Alturas, California and graduated from Modoc High School. She excelled as an athlete and still
holds the women's 800m record (2:16.79) for her high school.
She graduated from Chico State University in 1987 and started her career in elementary education.
Dawn was always furthering her skills as a teacher and became a well known and highly sought after
presenter for other school districts throughout California. After teaching, Dawn went on to get
her Masters in Education Administration eventually working as a Special Projects Coordinator and
a Principal.
She left education and focused on being a mother to her youngest son, Caden. She had
recently began to work on her real estate license. Dawn enjoyed a wide variety of activities through
different parts of her life including: horseback riding, camping, fishing, skiing, swimming,
biking, motorcycle touring, boating, traveling, theater, good food and wine.

She married Michael Crumm on November 23, 1994 in Hopland, California. Together they raised four
children, Weston Crumm (25), Vance Lynch (25), Amalia Crumm (24) and Caden Crumm (14). She is
survived by her sister, Jill Lyford of Red Bluff and her mother, Lee Flournoy of Chico. Her father,
Robert K. (Butch) Vance preceded in death by only nine months(March 21, 2015)
There will be a celebration of Dawn's life Saturday, January 16 from 4 - 8 pm at the Chico Women's
Club, 592 East 3rd Street in Chico, California. Food, Wine, Stories, and Pictures will be shared.
