U-Prep Invitational

The host Panthers swept the top four spots in the girls varsity race held at Shasta College Wednesday.

Sophomore Sarah Maron took first on the 5K course in 20 minutes, 20 seconds.

Junior Lauren Galligan was second in 21:26 followed by two sophomores, Andrea Clagg (21:39) and McKenzie 
Hoffman (23:03).

Hayfork junior Scott Minor won the boys race in 16:40, followed by U-Prep freshman Daniel Johnson in 17:06.

Redding Adventist sophomore Eric Ghelfi was third in 18:17, trailed by U-Prep sophomore Mikey Ward (18:21).

Red Bluff boys 28, West Valley 29

The Spartans edged the Eagles in a dual, while the West Valley girls didn't field a full team, handing the 
win to Red Bluff. In the girls race, the Eagles' Michelle Johnson and Cori Storms went 1-2 in 20 minutes, 
2 seconds and 20:33. Erynn Rebol of Red Bluff took third at 21:06.

West Valley's Justin Hale and Forrest McBride went 1-2 in the boys race in 18:20 and 18:34.
Red Bluff's Colin Roth was third in 18:45.



Saturday Sept 13 2008
Nevada Union Asics Invite:

American Christian freshman Stephanie Rasmussen took first overall in the varsity girls race involving 
schools of 1,700 enrollment or fewer. Rasmussen won in a time of 20 minutes, 5 seconds on a challenging 
3-mile course. Lassen sophomore Tiffany Heflin took third in 20:12 while Her sister Senior Bethany Rasmussen 
was seventh overall in 20:51.

West Valley High School cross country runner Michelle Johnson edged teammate Corissa Storms by six seconds to 
win the four-team meet at Central Valley on Wednesday. Johnson crossed the line of the 3-mile course in 19 
minutes, 41 seconds with Storms finishing in 19:47.

The one-two finish helped propel the Eagles to a win with 25 points, while CV was second with 46 points.
Corning was third with 65 points. For Central Valley, Brooke Feranna was third in 20:55, while Samantha 
Vierra was eighth in 24:53

On the boys' side, Corning dominated, finishing with 32 points to second-place CV's 62. Corning's Freddy 
Carillo ran away with first in 16:08, while fellow Cardinals' runner Jose Torres was second in 17:23.
West Valley's Forrest McBride was third in 17:41. For the Falcons, Ronnie Lancaster was sixth in 18:30, 
while Eric Carillo was seventh in 18:34.

Prep boys cross country
Enterprise 18, Shasta 37

The Hornets' Domenic D'Acquisto and Zach Kaylor crossed the line together in 16 minutes, 16 seconds on the 3.1-mile
course at Caldwell Park. Shasta's Kyle Clagg was third in 17:01. The Hornets' Austin Lampkin was fourth (17:29) 
and Trevor Hope fifth (18:03).

Prep girls cross country
Enterprise 19, Shasta 39

The Hornets' Malissa McRae and Delanne Bartlett crossed line together in 21:12 - one second in front of teammate 
Jerri Spence. Shasta's Tara Stouffer was fourth in 21:43.

Prep boys cross country 10/22/2008
NAL dual at West Valley

Yreka, unbeaten in NAL play, won again with 17 points beating out Lassen's 42-point day and West Valley and 
Anderson which fielded incomplete teams. The Miners' Aiden McKee won, covering the 3-mile course in 17:32. 
Teammates Kevin Jorgensen (17:43) and Chris Lopez (17:48) took second and third. 

West Valley's Forrest McBride was fifth (18:28). The NAL finals are at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 in Susanville.

Prep girls cross country
NAL dual at West Valley

The unbeaten Eagles won with 27 points, beating out Yreka (39), Lassen (65) and Anderson (incomplete).

Grizzlies runner Tiffany Heflin won in 20:02. But, West Valley's Michelle Johnson (21:26) and Corissa Storms 
(21:32) took second and third. Teammate Cassie DeBonis (22:29) took fifth. The team heads south over the weekend
to compete in the Mt Sac Invitational.
