Local Roundup: Panthers grab victory

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Kody Atkins won the 1,600-meter and 800 races, then anchored the 1,600 relay in the Chico High girls' track team's Eastern 
Athletic League meet victory in Palo Cedro, with the Panthers prevailing with 97.5 points to Foothill's 43 and Red Bluff's 28.5.

Kasey Barnett won the long and triple jumps for Chico, which remained undefeated in EAL meets, and she also took third in the 200. 
Megan Cochran won the high jump with a 5-foot mark, and Anna Kurnizki won the 100 hurdles and took second in the high jump.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Foothill 59, Red Bluff 58.5, Chico 54.5

Nick Sloggy was involved in three event wins for Chico at the Eastern Athletic League regular season meet. In addition to helping 
propel the Panthers' 1,600 relay team to a first-place finish, Sloggy won the 100 meters in 11.28 seconds and long jump with an 
attempt of 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Dan Parker added victories for Chico in the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 35.93 seconds and the 800, and 
Corey Emmons was first in the 300 hurdles.
