PREP TRACK AND FIELD Wednesday May 6, 2009 BOYS Enterprise 79 1/2, Paradise 48 1/2, Chico 37 Tim Pullen ran to victories for the second place Bobcats in the EAL tri-meet at Chico High, beating the field in both the 400 (50.1) and 200 meters. Casey McCarten added a victory for Paradise in the 100. Chico's Russel Rabut emerged for the Panthers lone event victory in the high jump. Chico's Dan Parker finished second in the 400 (51.2) while Phillip Graber (4:34) was second to Enterprise's Zach Kaylor (4:25.8) in the 1600. GIRLS Chico 96, Enterprise 55 1/2, Paradise 18 1/2 The Panthers, with ten event victories, powered past fellow EAL leader Enterprise in the tri-meet held on the Chico High track. Kasey Barnett won both the long & triple jump for Chico, in addition to running the anchor leg on the winning 4 X 100 Relay. Freshman standout Kody Atkins swept the middle distance races with wins in the 400, 800 and anchor of the winning 4 X 400 Relay. Atkins time in the 400 (57.6) is the fastest run by a girl in the section this year. Other winners for Chico were Analy Nava in the 1600 & 3200, Caroline Kurnizki in the 100 hurdles, Megan Cochran in the high jump. ====================================================================================================== Record Searchlight version of same meet The Enterprise boys scored 82 points to beat Paradise (48) and Chico (37). Zach Kaylor won the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 25.8 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:07. James Williams swept the hurdles, taking the 110 hurdles in 15.9 and the 300 hurdles in 41.1. He also added seconds in the triple jump (43-0) and long jump (20-2). Jovon Cunningham was first in the triple jump (44-1) and long jump (20-6). Jesse Miranda won the discus in 140-1 and Chace Taylor won the shot put in 47-3. The Chico girls scored 96 points to top Enterprise (56) and Paradise (18). Delanne Bartlett won the 100 (12.7), the 200 (27.6) and the 300 hurdles (48.3). She was second in the 400 in 1:00.8. Amber Hall was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.08 and the triple jump in 32-11. Veronica Diaz-Pettyjohn was first in the shot put with a toss of 31-3 1/2.
