PREP GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Chico 25, Pleasant Valley 32

In the latest showdown between two of the area's top prep girls cross country runners on Wednesday, Chico High's Hannah Dillard finished 38 seconds ahead of Pleasant Valley's Hannah Hodgkinson and shattered the 2.97-mile Hooker Oak Park course record to lift the Panthers to a 25-32 victory over the Vikings.

Dillard, who led from start to finish, completed the Eastern Athletic League race in 16 minutes and 55 seconds while Hodgkinson, the defending Northern Section champion, took second in 17:33 to edge her teammate, Natalie Hickman (17:34). Dillard placed fifth at last year's section finals meet.

In addition to Dillard's record performance, the Panthers were able to hold off their EAL rival on the strength of gutsy performances by Joanna Johnson (4th - 17:45) and Morgan Camy (5th - 18:35).
