Pleasant Valley 35, Corning 37, Central Valley 42

Tanner Hickman's first-place finish in 16 minutes, 57 seconds propelled the Vikings in a nonleague 
Hooker Oak Park meet.

Corning's Tom Provine was second after crossing in 17:19. Chad Mallard of Pleasant Valley was fourth 
in 17:34 followed by Corning's Wiley Pulido 12 seconds later.

PREP GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Hodgkinson, Pleasant Valley roll

In a nonleague meet featuring the Vikings, Gridley, Corning and Central Valley, PV's Hannah Hodgkinson 
stormed to take top honors at Hooker Oak Park in 18:41 — over two minutes ahead of the rest of the field.

Four other Vikings runners rounded out the top five — Emily Ogden (second), Kelsey O'Sullivan (third), 
Kimberley Fawns (fourth) and Tahra Soofi (fifth).

The Corning varsity boys cross country team was in a three-way race for victory in a meet hosted by Pleasant Valley on Wednesday that also featured Gridley and Central Valley.

The Cardinals scored a 37 to finish just ahead of Central Valley (40) and just behind the Vikings hosts (35).

Tom Provine led the way for the Cardinals on the 3.1-mile course with a time of 17 minutes, 19 seconds, 
which was 22 seconds behind the leader.

Corning's Willy Pulido edged teammate Chris Barajas for fifth place (17:46 to 17:47) and Miguel Avila came 
in 11th.

Lino Sanchez rounded out the Cardinals' top five with a time of 20:21, good for 14th out of the 22 runners.

In the junior varsity boys race, only Corning and Pleasant Valley had complete five-man squads but the 
Vikings won by landslide, 15-50.

Mario Bobadilla crossed the finish line in 18th (19:53) and Miguel Preciado was 21st (20:21) to pace 
the Cardinals.

Corning did not have any varsity girls runners but three JV girls competed in the JV girls race.

Miriam Silva earned the bronze title for the Lady Cardinals on the 2.4-mile course with a time of 22:33, 
and teammates Rocio Islas and Angel Valdez came in 14th and 15th, respectively.

Corning is scheduled to run in the Nevada Union Invitational in Grass Valley on Saturday and will host 
a race against Paradise on Wednesday.
