Domenic D'Acquisto wasn't racing in Wednesday's Eastern Athletic League cross country meet. Instead, the two-time defending Northern
Section champion characterized his effort as a hard workout. Turns out, D'Acquisto in workout mode is still faster than everybody else
in racing mode.

The Enterprise High School junior dusted the field on the 3-mile course, using 15 minutes, 51 seconds to post the top time in a
four-way meet that also featured Red Bluff, Pleasant Valley and Oroville. D'Acquisto's first-place time was 34 seconds faster than
second-place finisher Zack Kaylor, and after his dominant performance, the race winner went out and did another 3 miles for even more
 practice.

"My goal was to do what I just did," D'Acquisto said after his second three-mile effort. "Just finish comfortable and go back out
and jog the course." With some help from his teammates, D'Acquisto and the Hornets won both of their head-to-head battles, besting
PV 24-31 and Oroville 17-43.

On the girls' side, Enterprise was saddled with incomplete scores because the Hornets didn't have enough runners in the varsity race.

Enterprise got its usual stellar outputs from D'Acquisto, second-place finisher Kaylor and fourth-place runner Austin Lamkin.
What made the difference in the wins were the high finishes from Isaiah Boles (ninth) and John Collins (11th).
"Last week we were kind of flat and our 4-5-6 kids were back and didn't fight," Hornets coach Jim Deaver said. "(Wednesday) was
their best race of the season. Fantastic."

Kaylor, usually second behind D'Acquisto, came in at 16:25. Lamkin finished in 17:25, Boles needed 17:59 and Collins posted an 18:04 time.
The effort made last week's one-point loss to Chico a little easier to swallow and the win over PV was a huge confidence booster, D'Acquisto
said. "PV is supposed to be the No. 1 team right now. Our goal was to come out strong and comfortable, and just hang on with those PV guys,"
he said. "We just sent out another statement that Enterprise is back on the records and is going to be the team to beat."

Red Bluff, which lost to PV 20-37 and Oroville 23-35, had Devin Shoop finish sixth of 39 with a 17:47 time. Colin Roth was 15th. With the
girls, Enterprise didn't get a score, and Deaver said the effort wasn't an outstanding one. He stood at the 1-mile mark and hollered at
his pack of runners to be more protective of their home course.

"We don't have a complete team right now because the other girls are young," he said. "As individuals you have to take pride in your home
course." Malissa McRae was the top Hornet, coming in seventh. Amanda James was 12th (23:32) and Dalanne Bartlett was 13th with the same time.

Red Bluff's Lily Brose posted a solid fourth-place finish in 21:38 and Erin Eicholtz was eighth.

The Spartans lost 19-41 to PV and 24-31 to Oroville. Against Enterprise, Oroville scored 17 points and PV scored 16.

The Tigers' Sarah Brandt won the girls' race with a 21:05 time and PV's Gabrielle Finley was second at 21:21. There were 24 runners.
